Our Services
| Ambulatory Service | ||
| Consultations
on properties are an essential part of equine practice.
ABEC provides a continual on-farm service to horses that
require attention and are unable to attend the clinic.
Numerous horses are visited each year for cuts, colics,
foalings and other procedures in the field. The clinic
is available 24 hours a day for emergency service. Our
recommendation is, where possible, to bring your horse
to the clinic where a more comprehensive range of facilities
and equipment is always available. We provide ambulatory service to from Penrith to Sackville, and from Kellyville to Kurrajong Hills. |

| Dentistry | ||
| Care of your horses mouth is an often-overlooked yet integral part of routine horse management. It is important that you always receive professional advice about dentistry. ABEC provides a comprehensive range of dental procedures from floating, wolf teeth removal, extractions and management of periodontal disease. We encourage our clients to become involved in dental care and appreciate ways they can be actively involved in caring for their horse's mouths. | ||
| Emergency | ||

| Imaging
plays a vital role in current veterinary practice. The clinic operates 6 ultrasound machines, 4 X-ray
machines and 3 endoscopes, including videoendoscopy,with the overhead-mounted X-ray
machine providing improved quality in difficult areas. ABEC has recently acquired the latest digital x-ray equipment for both hospital and in the field radiography. This system provides superior quality images and also allows for easier transfer of images to our referring vets or our visiting specialists. The newest addition to our imaging centre is our scintigraphy unit (bone scanning). This allows imaging of areas unable to be scanned using ultrasound or radiography, or in horses where the problem cannot be localised using nerve or joint blocks. |

| Reproduction | ||
![]() |
At
ABEC we employ the latest techniques in the area of
reproduction to ensure the best outcome for your breeding
mare or stallion. Some of the procedures include: chilled
and frozen semen, hysteroscopic insemination, and embryo
transfer. At the clinic we offer a comprehensive diagnostic
work-up of problem mares including uterine swabs, biopsies,
endoscopy along with thorough ultrasound evaluation.
Breeding mares are routinely monitored at the clinic
for follicular development and ovulation to provide
the ideal time for insemination. We manage many mares in a “walk-in”
system, where the mare is kept at the clinic and monitored
intensively over a few days as necessary, and returned
home when examinations and procedures are complete.
This is commonly used for chilled transported and frozen
semen insemination. Client information notes for artificial
breeding as well as a booking form are available on
this site under "Client Forms"in the lefdt menu. |
